DENTAL HYPOMINERALIZATION (RAINE SYNDROME)
Raine-syndrome is a (probably breed specific) recessively inherited hereditary disease in dogs. The disease is characterized by insufficient mineralization of the teeth during development. The disease causes extensive teeth wear, cracking of enamel, brownish discoloration of the teeth and chronic pulpitis resulting in teeth loss. We know of a case where an affected dog lost 14 teeth in just 7 weeks.
This disease can be genetically tested through blood or cheek swab samples!
